Glass Substrates

The manufacturing process of microfluidic chips involves a variety of conditions, including exposure to high temperatures, corrosive chemicals, and more. Glass as a substrate material is well suited for use in these environments due to its chemical purity, thermal shock resistance and high mechanical stability. In addition, very precise and smooth micron and nanometer structures can be realized on glass, which are primarily accomplished through etching and laser drilling. Therefore, glass is one of the most attractive and desirable materials for the fabrication of microfluidic devices.
