Bubbles in liquid samples are one of the most common problems in microfluidic experiments. Due to the micron size of the tubing and channels, bubbles can be very difficult to remove and can be detrimental to the experiment.

Alfa Chemistry offers microfluidic bubble trap, which is made of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and is autoclavable. It is biocompatible, stable, robust, user-friendly and ensures leak-proof setups.

  • Composed of PEEK body and PTFE membrane, autoclavable
  • Contains two membranes that are easy to replace to avoid contamination
  • Compatible with low-flow liquids at a flow rate of 5 μL/min
  • Suitable for connection of 1/8'', 1/16'' or 1/32'' OD tubing

Working Principle

This bubble trap has a PTFE membrane that removes bubbles in a leak-free manner through the microporous hydrophobic membrane when solutions containing bubbles are pushed through it. You can optionally connect a vacuum pump to the rear outlet of the bubble trap (active mode) to increase the performance of it. However, even without a pump attached (passive mode), the bubble trap typically still show excellent bubble removal performance in most experimental setups.
